Summer fun: Splash pad will be ready in time to cool summer heat

Though it took some time to get the project underway, the city’s first splash pad will be ready for Memorial Day, city commissioners were told last week.Dan Riney, director of city utilities, provided Ottawa City commissioners with an update during their April 17 meeting.Riney told commissioners work had started on the project in City Park, adding contractors were hopeful it would be finished in three weeks, weather permitting.

KBI releases 2023 Kansas civil asset forfeiture report

TOPEKA – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation recently provided the 2023 Kansas Civil Asset Forfeiture Report to the Kansas Legislature, and released it to the public at https://kasfr.kbi.ks.gov/.Civil asset forfeiture is a procedure that authorizes law enforcement agencies to seize and forfeit property and cash that was obtained with proceeds from, or used to facilitate, certain criminal activity.
