Police investigate New Year’s Day death
Ottawa police investigated the death of a 56-year-old man at a local residence on New Year’s Day.Police officials said they were dispatched to a home in the 900 block of South Maple Street shortly before 1:30 p.m.
Ottawa Police Department officials announced Monday it was awarded national accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies in the Law Enforcement program.The department was first accredited in 2015 and is one of 12 CALEA-accredited agencies in Kansas.Following a four-year remote assessment, a site-based assessment of community engagement, policy, procedures, equipment and facilities by CALEA assessors, Ottawa Police Chief Adam Weingartner and Accreditation Manager Stacey Allen, and other staff, attended the CALEA conference in Bellevue, Wash.
