Same recipe for Arrows success

The Ottawa Arrows are looking to put all the facets together in this weekend’s American Legion AAA State Tournament in Topeka.The Arrows had spurts this season of playing solid baseball, but not for a sustained period of time.Ottawa’s recipe for success will be the same as it has been all season.“We have to get runners on base, advance them and then score them,” Arrows coach Shayne Lickteig said.

Cleanup ongoing at train derailment site

Clean up continues as of Monday in the area of Osborne Terrace and Louisiana Terrace where a train derailment happened this past weekend.BSNF officials said it is best for the public to avoid the area as there are a large amount of heavy trucks and equipment parked on the roadside.The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a train derailment just west of Ottawa around 12:45 a.m.

Curtis receives degree

Lauren Curtis, Ottawa, was one 2,890 degrees awarded by Missouri State University in spring 2024.Curtis graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education, Early Childhood Education, Magna Cum Laude.Students who graduated with honors completed at least 30 credit hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
