Whooville comes alive in Ottawa

Reaching our first cold snap and packing up our Thanksgiving leftovers, it’s officially Christmas time in Ottawa. At this year’s Mayoral Tree Lighting Ceremony the Main Street lights beamed as the engines for the parade started. This year’s theme is Whooville after the famous Grinch Who Stole Christmas story. There were cookies, hot cocoa, make your own ornament, and even some snow made an appearance. A few bikes were given to kids as a part of a drawing and downtown shops were open for Small Business Saturday.

ECK Club meets Saturday

The East Central Kansas Model T Ford Club will meet Saturday for their Christmas Party. The Club will meet at Kelly Hall / Burlington from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Members are asked to bring a salad or dessert to share with the meal.

OU athletes receive NAIA honors

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) honored the 2024 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes for fall sports. This honor recognizes student-athletes in each of the fall sports who have excelled academically including football, men’s cross country, men’s soccer, women’s cross country, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball.
