Clifton Dale Hensley

Clifton Dale Hensley, 85, Ottawa, KS passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Advent Health Ottawa.

He was born June 18,1936 in Raymondville, TX the son of David Hensley and Helen (Rowlett) Hensley- Dale grew up in Texas and Sulphur Springs, OK.

Dale was a lifelong machinist who owned and operated J & D Drilling, Ottawa, KS. He served his country in the United State Navy _ _ attaining the rank of steelworker third class. He was proud to be a member of the Navy Seabees and loved his experience serving his country.

Dale was an avid golfer. He was also well known as a tinkerer. He always had a project to work on or something he needed to fix or improve. Traveling was his favorite pastime. He loved to visit his friends and family while traveling. Dale and Jo Ann spent many days traveling from the west to the east coast in their R.V. Many memories were made along their journeys that will last for years to come.

On May 18,1997 Dale was united in marriage to Jo Ann Adkins In Ottawa, KS. Jo Ann survives of their home. Also surviving are two sons, Monty Hensley and his wife. Tammy, Lyndon, KS, Randy Hensley and his wife, Vivienne, Buena Park, CA; daughter, Carrie Nunes, Riverside; two step children, Justin Bickerstaff, Heather Woodruff and her husband, Chris, sister, Patsy Simpson and her husband, Glenn, Oologah, OK; six grandchildren, Ryan Hensley, Jeremy Hensley, and his wife, Jamia, Siarra Robles and her husband, Anthony, David Nunes, and his wife, Jenna, Adam Nunes, Kevin Hensley; nine great grandchildren, Ezekiel, Landon, Wayion, Jaxsen, Joshua, Journee, Christopher, Travis, Brynlee; and three step grandchildren, Trenton Heenan, Samantha Bickerstaff, Shyla Heenan; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hensley was preceded in death by his parents; son, Christopher Hensley; and a sister, Jeanette Hensley.

To celebrate Dale’s life, a visitation will be held at the funeral home and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital and sent in c/o the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa, KS 66067.
