Dillon, Wolzen named to lead Ottawa Fire Department

After serving several months as interim fire chief, Ottawa firefighter Shawn Dillon was officially named the department’s new leader Monday afternoon.In a statement, Ottawa City Manager Brian Silcott announced Dillon’s appointment as well as naming Stuart Wolzen as assistant fire chief.Both appointments are effective as of April 28.

Farmers market set to open May 1

In less than a week, the Ottawa Farmers Market opens for the season.The market opens May 1 with local producers selling locally grown items, including produce, meat, baked goods, plants and flowers.The market, which is open from 4-6 p.m.
