Head out to the wild horse and burro event in Lawrence, Kan.

_e Bureau of Land Management will hold a wild horse and burro adoption event in Lawrence, Kan., Aug. 19-20, at the Douglas County Fairgrounds._e two-day event, featuring 120 wild horses and burros, will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 19. Adoptions will be held from noon-6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, and from 8 a.m.noon on Saturday, Aug. 20. Animals are eligible for adoption. Inquire with BLM staff onsite for more information.

Construction begins on I-35 between Gardner and Edgerton

Nightly lane closures are scheduled as part of a pavement improvement project on northbound and southbound I-35 from 215th Street to 167th Street beginning this week. The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) project includes placing pavement markings on all northbound and southbound I-35 lanes as well as entrance and exit ramps at Sunflower Road, Homestead Lane and Gardner Road.
