Kansas Secretary of State candidate Mike Brown made a stop in Ottawa to visit with the Ottawa Republicans on Monday to discuss his goals for the state’s election process. Brown, a Johnson County native, is touring all 105 Kansas counties leading up to the primary election on August 2.
The legislature is on another break until May 23. The delayed schedule is a response to the Congressional map and now the state senate map being challenged in court.

Repairs are set to begin within the next few weeks at Cornerstone Bookstore after a vehicle crashed through one of its front windows in April. On April 12, an Osawatomie man crashed his vehicle through the store’s front window and sustained minor injuries.
The City of Ottawa has been named the recipient of Kansas Municipal Utilities’ Safe City Award for 2022. According to KMU, the award is given to the city in Kansas that “best exemplifies the philosophy that one injury is too many and every injury is preventable”.

Members of Leadership Franklin County’s Class of 2022 celebrated their completion of the nine-month program on April 28 with a ceremony at Neosho County Community College. The class consisted of a variety of ages, hometowns, and backgrounds, but members all shared the same goal: to better the Franklin County community.
