City-wide Garage Sale to be held May 6-7

The semi-annual Ottawa City-wide Garage Sale will be held next weekend, May 6-7. According to Community Development Director Mike Hall, city ordinance limits residents to conducting no more than two garage sales at the same location per year, and any garage sales occurring out side of the two designated weekends need to be registered with the city for tracking purposes.

Ottawa High School held its 2022 Prom on April 23 at The Historic Post Office in Ottawa. As per tradition, friends and family members gathered outside the venue for a live walk-in, where students’ names were announced as they got out of their cars and walked in to prom. Franklin County Sherriff’s Office investigating death of Topeka man

The Franklin County Sheriff ’s Office is investigating the death of a Topeka man who was Around 5 pm on April 22, Franklin County Sheriff ’s Deputies responded to the 2700 block of Sand Creek Road on reports of a man standing outside a car assaulting the woman inside. When the Deputies arrived, they found the man, 58-year-old Manuel Lara of Topeka, laying in the road, injured.

Divine Intervention?

Dear Readers, Forty-two years ago while waiting to run the mile-relay I asked Joe to my Senior Prom and he said, “Yes.” As a distance runner whose races were scheduled late in the afternoon, track meets were simply long hours of laughter, trading sack lunch contents and cheering on my classmates. I can’t speak for the Healy High Boy’s Track Team, but we girls viewed track meets mostly as an opportunity meet boys from other schools, especially those tall, dark mysterious ones from rival towns.
