20th annual Franklin Co. Children’s Literature Festival happening April 27

The Franklin County Children’s Literature Festival is happening April 27, in-person for the first time in two years. The festival, which is attended by third, fourth and fifth grade students from several public and private schools in Franklin County, features presentations by authors, illustrators, musicians and storytellers from all over the country.

Daylight Donuts, Betty Birzer celebrate one year of Donuts for Do-Gooders program

One year ago, Betty Birzer of ReeceNichols decided to bring a box of donuts to the cooks at PrimeTime Grille as a way of thanking them for the hard work they put in throughout the pandemic. She was surprised by how excited everyone was by the gift, but then she came to a realization: while everyone was busy thanking healthcare workers and teachers (who deserved all of the praise and then some, to be sure), nobody had thought to reach out to those working behind the scenes to thank them for the countless hours they’d put in to bring people food, groceries, and other necessities, all while potentially risking their lives. That’s when she got an idea, but she’d need some help.
