Franklin County Commission Recap: April 6

During their April 6 meeting, Franklin County commissioners were briefed by County Financial Officer David Arteberry on options the County has for refinancing or paying off its outstanding debts. According to Arteberry, there are two public building bonds that will become callable to refinanced beginning in June, both of which were established in 2014.

Wellsville USD 289 receives KDHE Waste Tire Product Grant

Wellsville USD 289 has been selected to receive one of 28 grants from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE)’s Bureau of Waste Management, KDHE announced on Tuesday. The grants, which totaled over $436,000, will fund projects at municipalities and K-12 schools that include the use of recycled tire products, including playground surfacing and picnic tables.
