Reinert named to ESU Dean’s List

Margaret Reinert, Ottawa, was among nearly 100 Emporia State University students named to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences dean’s list in the fall 2021 semester. To qualify for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences dean’s list, students earned a semester grade point average that puts them in the top 10 percent of all students enrolled in full-time undergraduate work within the college and have a cumulative 3.5 GPA for all Emporia State courses.

Assisted living facility residents in Kansas lack right to appeal involuntary discharge

TOPEKA — Early-on-set Alzheimer’s disease led to rancher Charles Imthurn’s placement in a Kansas assisted living facility and it was dementia that prompted his involuntary discharge. Imthurn’s wife, Rachel, said the facility providing care for her husband and five other Alzheimer’s patients with issues related to memory, thinking and behavior decided without warning to get out of that line of business.

Notable African Americans from Franklin County history

Wellsville Elementary welcomes new principal for 2022-2023 school year

Laurey Logan has been named principal of Wellsville Elementary for the 2022-2023 school year, USD 289 announced this week. Logan graduated from Emporia State University with a bachelor’s in elementary education, received her Masters in School Leadership from Kansas State University, and is currently completing her district-level licensure at Emporia State.
