Local group voices concern about solar development

Franklin County Residents Against Commercial Solar Power is a group of concerned landowners and area citizens with a vocal opposition against Orion Renewable Energy’s potential development in the area they call home.Franklin County Residents Against Commercial Solar Power was formed from citizens who did not know each other and spoke out against industrial wind turbines in 2021 at a Franklin County Planning Committee meeting.“From there, we have educated each other, met with like-minded individuals from multiple Kansas counties and grown to be one of the largest Facebook groups in Kansas,” said member, Chandy Prouty.

Kansas food experts outline problems of waste and access at inaugural summit

WICHITA — Food experts in Kansas say food waste is a growing problem in the state and solutions to food insecurity may lie within local connections.ICT Food Rescue executive director Stephanie Merritt, in a presentation Wednesday at the inaugural Kansas Local Food Summit in Wichita, said food waste and food insecurity are two concerns that go together.
