This past May 14, the 23rd annual Franklin County Children’s Literature Festival (Lit Fest) was held on the Ottawa University (OU) campus. This event is open, and free, to all Franklin County children in third-fifth grades.

I wake up in a relative’s apartment in another time zone to a beeping sound. It’s 4 a.m. That’s 3 for me. And it sounds like…yes…it is. An alarm clock is going off in the apartment below. It beeps and it beeps and it keeps on beeping. And after twenty minutes of beeping, I assume the neighbor is either dead or not at home, in which case he’ll wish he was dead when he gets home.

A few weeks ago, I hit a milestone that seems silly but gave me a huge sense of accomplishment. I reached my goal of closing all three of my fitness rings on my watch for 365 days in a row.

As the end of the school year is quickly coming into sight for my children, the end-of-year activities are beginning to ramp up. State assessments have been completed, countdowns have begun and field trips have picked up.
April Showers have arrived at my neck of the plains, and I couldn’t be happier. At least for a while.
