The nationally ranked Ottawa University men’s wrestling team’s success is paying dividends on the recruiting trail. The Braves recently signed three highly successful wrestlers for the 2023-24 season. The new Braves are C.J. Dye, Cabot, Ark., Carson Spencer, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Kevon Freeman, a transfer from Ohio State.
The area high school wrestling teams return to the mat Saturday for the first time after the holidays. The wrestlers are off to a good start during the first three weeks of the season.
The initial rosters for the 2023 Kansas Shrine Bowl are set. These prep all-star players have been invited to participate in the 50th Kansas Shrine Bowl Presented by Mammoth to be played at Lewis Field Stadium, Fort Hays State University, at 7 p.m. July 15.
The Ottawa High School bowling teams had a successful opening day Thursday in its match against Basehor-Linwood. “The bowling team held its first match and did very well,” Ottawa bowling coach Nick Davis said.
