The Ottawa High School girls basketball team is in an evaluation period during the Christmas break. “Basketball is so fast and furious in the first couple weeks,” Ottawa coach Matt Schurman said.

Postseason season assignments released
The Wellsville and West Franklin basketball teams are paired in the same 3A sub-state in Garnett. Anderson County is the host school.
OU bowlers finish in top 20
The Ottawa University men and women’s bowling teams both finished in the top-20 at the Glenn Carlson Invite this past weekend at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The men’s team finished 18th out of 47 teams, while the women placed 17th out of 28.
Ottawa athletes secure KCAC honors
Two Ottawa University women athletes received KCAC awards for their recent performances. Ottawa basketball player Cierra Brown was selected as the KCAC Offensive Player of the Week. Ottawa women’s wrestler Livia Swift was the KCAC women’s Wrestler of the Week.

OHS boys get first win
After three-straight losses this season, the Ottawa High School Cyclones boys basketball team wanted to win its last game before the Christmas break. And as the final seconds ticked away Friday night in Paola, the Cyclones did just that, coming out on top 5147 over league rival Paola High School.
