The West Franklin wrestling team opened its second season with a lot of success under first-year coach Caleb Parenti. Five varsity girls and junior varsity boys medaled in the Emporia Tournament.

WF boys post big win
The West Franklin boys basketball team accomplished something it has not done in nearly a decade. The Falcons beat Council Grove in the season opener for the first time since the 2014-15 season.

The Ottawa University men’s basketball team is used to games going down to the final shot. In four of the six conference games, the contest was not decided until the buzzer went off.

OU soccer nets academic honors
Six Ottawa University women soccer players were recognized for their academic prowess. They were named Daktronics NAIA Women’s Soccer Scholar-Athletes. The 2022 list features 1,557 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution.
Brown leads Ottawa to win
The Ottawa University women’s basketball team has shown a penchant this season of winning close, ugly games. The Lady Braves found themselves embroiled in a scrap in the fourth quarter with Bethel Wednesday at Wilson Field House.
Johnston, Keuwo earn district awards
Two Ottawa University football players received academic honors. They were named to the 2022 Academic All-District Football Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, which recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field or court and in the classroom.
