A Ottawa University senior women’s tennis player earned national honors. Yana Goranova has been named to the NAIA All-American Teams.
The Ottawa High School softball team’s players are receiving individual awards after the team’s best finish since 2009. The Cyclones, who qualified for the state tournament for the first time in 13 seasons, had six players receive all-league honors.

The Ottawa American Legion baseball teams had a rough start to their seasons as both weekend tournaments were washed out. The Arrows played two games on Friday, winning both games, before Saturday’s rain cancelled the rest of the Kansas Senators Tournament in Topeka.

Ottawa University senior pitcher Casson Rasmussen has been named the NFCA [National Fast Pitch Coaches Association] Region IV second team. This is the second straight year Rasmussen has been named to the Region IV teams, earning first team honors in 2021.
The Ottawa University baseball’s record-breaking season ended with the Braves wanting more. The squad set many records, including most wins in a season.
The Ottawa American Legion baseball program’s mantra this summer is to play hard and have fun. Bryce Elder takes over the leadership of the program after serving as an assistant and head coach of the Ottawa A’s since 2018.
Ottawa High School senior Kirsten Evans will have one more event to represent the Cyclones. The all-around athlete and all-state volleyball player was invited to participate in the annual Kansas Volleyball Association All-Star match, set for 6:30 p.m.
