Blazer boys, girls grapplers claim team victories on senior night

The Gardner Edgerton boys and girls wrestling teams sent their seniors off in style Wednesday evening, as both teams claimed convincing victories over Olathe Northwest on Senior Night at Gardner Edgerton High School Gymnasium.The Trailblazer lady wrestlers doubled up the visiting Ravens, 54-27, before the Blazer boys’ squad downed their Northwest counterparts, 45-26.After all the matches were over, GEHS head coach Tyler Cordts spoke of the efforts of his girls’ squad on a night where matchups had to be juggled around in order to give his squad the best chance of a victory.“We saw some grit tonight,” said Cordts.

Same recipe for Arrows success

The Ottawa Arrows are looking to put all the facets together in this weekend’s American Legion AAA State Tournament in Topeka.The Arrows had spurts this season of playing solid baseball, but not for a sustained period of time.Ottawa’s recipe for success will be the same as it has been all season.“We have to get runners on base, advance them and then score them,” Arrows coach Shayne Lickteig said.
