Dale Arthur Schamle passed away on November 3, 2022, in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born on November 24, 1934, in Vassar, Kansas, the son of Charles J. and Julia (Fawl) Schamle. He was raised and attended school in the Ottawa, Kansas, area, helping his father on the family farm before and after school. He was a long-time member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, in Hutchinson, forgoing many lifelong friendships through the church members. He was a truck driver for Graves Truckline, retiring after 35 years of service and millions of miles logged. He received multiple awards for his safe driving. After retirement, he worked at Holy Cross Catholic School as a maintenance man, where he enjoyed interacting with the students and staff. Dale enjoyed traveling, camping and boating, always with family along for adventures. He arranged a legendary outing at Pomona Lake, where the entire family, including aunts, uncles, cousins and assorted friends would gather for camping, skiing, laughing and making memories. Dale also enjoyed woodworking and classic cars and was content to spend hours in his wood shop or garage working on a new project. On February 5, 1955, Dale married the love of his life, K. Darlene (Hoffman) Schamle, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa, Kansas. They were blessed with 60 years together before Darlene’s passing in 2016. Survivors include his sons, Douglas (Martha) Schamle and John (Jody) Schamle; daughter, Cathy (Doug) McMurphy, all of Hutchinson, Kansas; sister, Darlene (Cecil) Cook; 9 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. Dale is also survived by the best cat in the world, Elvis. He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Darlene; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Patricia Schamle and
Donald and Phyllis Schamle.
