Jo Ann Ewing, 87, formerly of Ottawa, KS, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Homestead of Overland Park.
Born September 12, 1934, as Rachel Wilson (twin of Richard Wilson) parents Guy Wilson and Pearl Mullen of Oronogo, MO.
Sometime after their birth, Guy Wilson died and the twins were adopted to Pete and Lois (Shelton) Steiner of Yates Center, KS who changed their names to Jo Ann Steiner and Joseph Steiner.
Jo Ann recounted many stories of her time growing up on a Kansas farm. She married Billy Ewing of Iola, KS on April 6,1955, theirs was a dedicated love that endured their entire lives. Bill died after over 52 years of marriage, love and adventures.
She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church of Ottawa, and the Warren Black Post, American Legion Auxiliary of Ottawa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, twin brother Joseph Steiner, son Ray Dean Ewing and daughter-in-law Arlene Ewing.
Survivors include three sons; Dennis Dale Ewing and Charles Eugene Ewing of Ottawa, and Paul Wayne Ewing of Naples, FL survive with great memories and a legacy of humor and honorable character.
Paul and his wife Julie have four children that loved their Granny: Riley Jacob Ewing of Brooklyn, NY, Jackson Reed (Juno) Ewing of Chicago, IL, Carter Davis Ewing and Truman Davis Ewing both in the Kansas City area.
The family is hosting a Tribute Picnic on Saturday, July 2nd at 11:00 a.m. The address for the Pavilion at Theater in the Park, 7710 Renner Road, Shawnee, KS

The family and guests will be comfortably dressed for a summertime Picnic in the Park with friends. We will share, pray and hear some of Mom’s favorite music performed while enjoying a catered lunch. Picnics were the roots of adventure planted in us from an early age and a fitting tribute. The event is Open House Style, but meals are limited.
