Linda R. (Wall) Rich, 84, of Ottawa, died at 4:23 a.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the Advent Hospital Shawnee Mission in Merriam.
She was born in Parsons on January 31, 1938 to Robert W. and Mildred (Hargis) Wall. She grew up In Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School in 1956 and Parsons Junior College in 1958. She attended Kansas State College of Pittsburg for one year.
From birth she was a part of the First Baptist Church of Parsons, where her family members had attended from before 1900. She was baptized on Easter Sunday in 1948.
On January 23, 1960 she and Dean Rich were married at the First Baptist Church in Parsons. Early in their marriage they lived in Wichita while Dean was attending Wichita State University. They continued living in either Parsons or Wichita until moving to Ottawa in 1979.
In Ottawa they became members of the First Baptist Church. For several years she was employed in the registrar’s office and later the student union at Ottawa University. She was a member of the O. U. Women’s Educational Society.
Throughout her life, Linda considered the needs of others before herself. As a child she was always concerned about her parents, siblings and friends. That trait continued until the end of her life.
Surviving is her husband, Dean; two sons, Mike Rich (Claire) of Dallas, TX and Doug Rich (Kama) of Ottawa; three grandchildren, Trey, Tanner and Maisie Rich of Ottawa and Lauren and Jack Rich of Dallas; a sister, Nancy Gard of Parsons and a brother, Gary Wall (Shirley) of Parsons and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at the First Baptist Church in Ottawa at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, with Rev. Tiger Pennington officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday.
The casket will be open at the church from 10a.m., to 11 a.m., for an hour before the service.
The Carson-Wall Funeral Home of Parsons is in charge of the arrangements and friends may call there on Monday and Tuesday until 5 p.m.
