Congratulations to Katy Yohe for being selected as this week's Unsung Hero and recipient of Donuts for Do-Gooders. "She is amazing and has such a great outlook on life, and she has done so much in this community by being a small-business owner." During the pandemic, Katy kept her shop, Curl Up & Dye, open and helping others even as she was working through her own personal life challenges. Katy has been a cosmetologist for 19 years, is married and has four children. Pictured (from left) are Melanie, Allie, Katy, Mallori and Gina. As you enter the shop, it is clear that the group is a happy one. Katy likes to make sure they show community support whenever they can; displaying signs when OHS sports teams go to state, participating in the annual Ladies' Night Out, the Halloween Spook Parade and being Santa's helpers are just among a few of their activities. A new project she wants to promote and raise funding for is providing a $200 scholarship to an Ottawa High School senior wanting to attend cosmetology school. If you want to help make this an annual scholarship, drop by and see Katy at her shop. Thank you to Katy and her staff for your continued support of our community. Keep up the good work!
