Wilma Jean Straub

Wilma Jean Straub, age 87, passed away on April 9, 2022, in Gravois Mills, Missouri surrounded by her loving family.

Wilma was born in Argentine, Kansas to William Earl Keith and Oda Mahala (Boyd) Keith on August 2, 1934. She went to school at Argentine High. She married William Scott Callaghan on July 22, 1950, in Kansas City, Kansas. They had five children and made their home in Pomona, Kansas. The family farmed, raised produce, and sold flowers in Ottawa, Kansas and at the Kansas City Farmers Market for many years. The family moved to Versailles, Missouri in 1974 and had greenhouses and farmed vegetables until William’s death on June 11, 1982. On November 28, 1986, Wilma married Albert “Randy” Straub in Laurie, Missouri. Randy and Wilma entertained at many venues in the lake area and in Texas where the couple wintered. They performed a variety of musical styles with Wilma on the keyboard and vocals. She passed her love of country music to several of her grandchildren who all had favorite songs they learned from her. She also shared her lifelong love and knowledge of raising plants with her family and enjoyed birds and animals. She kept her fingers nimble crocheting rugs to share with all.

Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband William Callaghan, her infant son Danny Callaghan, her youngest son Marty Callaghan, her step-son Mike Callaghan, her step-son Dave Straub, son-in-law Sandy Sangster and her seven siblings.

Wilma is survived by her husband Randy Straub of the home, Kathleen Sangster of Paris, Texas, Patrick and Debbie Callaghan of Ottawa, Kansas, William and Susan Callaghan of Ottawa, Kansas, daughter-in-law Becky Callaghan of Versailles, Missouri, step-daughter Sherri and Scott McNeil of Roland Park, Kansas, step-daughter-in-law Sammy Straub-Johnson of Branson Missouri, step-son Steve and Rita Straub of Gardner, Kansas, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 15, 2022, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, Missouri with services starting at 2:00pm. Reverend Dan Duckworth will be officiating the service. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Versailles, Missouri.

Memorials may be given to Lake Regional Hospice, Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Jude’s, or a charity of your choice, in Wilma’s name.
